The underlying technology of Internet Explorer 11 is partially available with IE Mode on Windows versions that do not support IE11 as a standalone application. Internet Explorer download 64-bit Mode is a Microsoft Edge feature that allows displaying web pages utilizing the Trident layout engine and other important components from Internet Explorer 11. Microsoft continues to provide updates for Internet Explorer 11 on the majority of Windows systems that are still available. Internet Explorer 11, which is now designated an “OS component,” is dependent on the version of Windows on which it is installed. It was available for Windows 8.1, Windows 7, and Windows 10 and supported both 32-bit and 640bit operating systems. IE11 was released on October 17, 2013, but now it’s retired because its successor Microsoft Edge has taken its place.
